Instructions
This part of the assignment is set to enable us to assess your language grading, eliciting and concept
checking for grammar.
You must show:
A) some of the language you would use in the presentation.
B) the instructions you would give for one activity.
Use direct speech and present in a dialogue form showing predicted student contributions.
Example of Eliciting
T = Teacher S= Student
- T: So everyone, look at this picture, please. What can you see?
- S1: Man and woman
- T: A man and a woman, yes, can anyone say a bit more?
- S2: They're riding their bikes.
- T: Excellent. Good. What are their names do you think?
- S3: Donald and Melania.
- T: Great idea! – So I'm putting that on the board (Teacher writes on the board 'Donald
and Melania are riding their bikes.')
Check the examples in Unit 7 to make sure you understand what is required.
N.B. If you do not use direct speech, you will be required to resubmit the whole assignment.
Assignment B – Teacher Language
This document should not be more than 3 pages long, including this page; approximately 700-1000 words
in total.
a) Presentation
You do not need to show the entire presentation, but show us some of the language you would use to elicit
the target language from the context you have chosen, elicit the form, and concept check.
Show the Actual Words you would use for:
i) Eliciting the Target Language from the Context
T: So today is Thursday and the weekend is getting close, does anyone have plans for the weekend?
Ss: Yes!
, T: That’s great! Me I will probably be playing video games with my kids during the weekend. Is there anyone
who enjoys playing video games.?
S: Yes, which one do you like playing?
T: I like playing soccer games, and you Filip?
Filip: I like playing kahoot.
T: That's great! Will Filip be sad if he plays kahoot?
Ss: No teacher
T: Great! (Teacher draws a happy face on the whiteboard) Now, who can finish this sentence? If I play kahoot, I
will…?
Ss: I will be happy?
T: Brilliant! So, If I play kahoot, I will be happy. (Teacher writes on the board and everyone repeats the
sentence)
Class: If I play kahoot, I will be happy.
T: Correct. Let’s imagine another situation and change the condition, shall we? Let’s say there is no internet,
and you can’t play the game. What do you think will happen? Julia?
Julia: Well, if there is no internet and I don’t play the game, I will be sad.
T: Correct. Now let’s use another one of your examples. During the weekend you will invite your friends to
a party, and you will bake a cake for them. Who can make a conditional sentence?
Antoni: If I invite my friends to a party, I will bake a cake.
T: That’s right Antoni! Now let’s say the party is cancel for some reason. What will happen?
Ss: I will not invite my friends
T: That right and if you don’t invite them what will happen?
Andre: If I don’t invite my friends’, Mm….
T: Does anyone know how to form negative for ‘will’?
Maria: won’t!
T: Well-done Maria! So, Andre, can you finish the sentence now? If I don’t invite my friends to the party, I
…
Andre: I won’t bake a cake
T: That’s right. Can someone now say the complete sentence If I don’t…… Eloise: If
I don’t invite my friends to the party, I won’t bake a cake.
T: Very good.
(The teacher writes down the sentences on the board and underlines don’t and won’t.
