STRATEGIES
A1. Describe how the current website content fails to meet audience
and stakeholder needs.
Stakeholder Content Needs
Stakeholders are looking for a site that makes the content readable and easy
to understand. The website content fails this need due to sentence structure
and proper grammar usage. Sentences in the content feel like they run on
too long and do not use proper punctuation. It also fails this need because of
the font sizes and styles used. Content is hard to read in the italic font,
especially when the size is small as words look to run together on the page.
Stakeholders want to provide basic pet care advice for the most common
type of pets. The website fails this need because the content included for
each pet is not consistent. Content for cats is age based while content for
dogs is need based. The website also fails this need because there is
information included in the FAQs page the references pets that are not even
included in their website. The page answers questions about snakes and
birds instead of being dedicated to cats and dogs like the rest of the website.
Snakes and birds should be included as pet categories if they have people
frequently asking questions regarding those types of pets.
Stakeholders want the site to implement consistent branding that clarifies
their values. The website fails this need because, while they use the same
logo across all pages on the site, there is nothing that clarifies their values or
points to what the branding even stands for. While a picture of a balloon dog
is slightly related to pets, it doesn’t point to there being other animals
included in their content or why the company has built the site in the first
place.
Stakeholders want the site to be on the first page of search engine results
when pet owners search for “new pet consultation” or “new pet care
consultation.” The website fails that need in the fact that it does not show up
in search results, even when searching through the first 5 pages of results on
either Google, Bing, or DuckDuckGo. Adding content to offer tips for first-
time pet owners will help when it comes to associated keywords used in the
search but additional help might be needed from keyword tools to help
phrase things on the website better.
Audience Content Needs
The audience of all visitors that come to the site are interested in an
overview of what the company does. This website fails this content need
