Het voorwerp van empirisch-gebaseerd-SCIence is het genereren van kennis.
Het genereren van kennis vereist (1) enig begrip van de aard van de kennis
(epistemologie) en (2) inzicht in de methoden of processen waarmee echte kennis (
Valse kennis) kan worden ontwikkeld (methodologie).

Het verband tussen theorie en empirische observaties werpt noodzakelijk complexe kwesties
in epistemologie op (de filosofie van de aard van kennis), Methodologie (de filosofie van de

1.1 TWEE BELANGRIJKE VOORSTELLEN
1) KP1 (relatief): als men sociale wetenschappen beoefent, is enige betrekking met
theorie onvermeidelijk, zijn er geen theorie-neutrale feiten
Theorie geladenheid van observaties: wij benaderen altijd al onze empirische
observaties door één of andere soort theoretische afspraken, kunnen wij geen
theorie vermijden (Popper: waarnemingen zijn altijd Interpretaties van de
waargenomen feiten; ze zijn interpretaties in het licht van theorieën)
We zien een wereld alleen door middel van theoretische brillen (=
interpretaties van constructies)
Constructivisme = sociale wetenschaps benadering die de noodzaak
benadrukt om zorgvuldig de constructies of interpretaties te onderzoeken die
de sociale actoren aan hun observaties van de natuurlijke en sociale wereld
brengen.

Daarom zijn empirische onderzoeksresultaten altijd gewoon een andere
' constructie ', zonder bijzondere aanspraak op geldigheid Vormt
