Surah Yaseen tafseer:
General info:
- Surah Yaseen is a Makkan surah.
- Surah Yaseen is the 36th surah in the Quran; it starts on juz 22 and transitions into juz 23.
- As mentioned in previous classes; some Surahs took their names from the Surah.
- Surah Yaseen took its name from the first ayah.
- The surah starts with separated letters; only Allah (SWT) knows what these letters mean.
As mentioned in previous classes; after the separated letters; the next ayah talks about the
Quran.
Ayah tafseer:
Ayat 1: The surah starts with separated letters; only Allah knows the meaning of them. The
Quran itself is a miracle and is made up of these letters. The Quraysh were not able to come up
with something like the Quran although they had the letters.
Ayat 2: By the Quran; full of wisdom. In this ayah Alah swears by the Quran; we as muslims
swear by Allah (SWT); Allah however swears by his creation.
Ayat 3: Indeed you prophet Muhammed (SAW) are one of the messengers.
Ayat 4: On the straight path.
Ayat 5: The Quran was sent down by the almighty and the most merciful.
Ayat 6: In order that you may warn the forefathers or whose ancestors were not warned.
Ayat 7: The word of punishment is justified for most of them; hence they will not believe.
Ayat 8: Indeed we put on their necks iron collars that reach up to their chins; so that their heads
are raised up and become stiff. With their raised heads ; they cannot even see the path; hence
how they can follow the path they cannot see. (This is an example of the rigid denial of the
message.)
Ayat 9: the second way of describing of how arrogant they were was:
“ And we have put a barrier in front of them; made this life attractive to them, and a barrier
behind them; they are totally heatless to the hereafter; so we have covered them so they can’t see.
(Ayat 8&9 talk about the Quraysh were so arrogant that they could not see the right path)
Ayat 10: And it is the same to them; whether you warn them or not they will not believe.(They
have gone too astray; warning them will not help anymore)
Ayat 11: indeed you can only warn him who follows the advice of the Quran and the prophet
(PBUH); and fears the ,most gracious when not seen; so convey to him glad tidings of
forgiveness and the generous word of paradise.
Ayat 12: Indeed we give life to the dead; and we record the deeds you have put forward and the
deeds you have left behind as an example and we have everything recorded in a clear book.
