How is Walmart able to keep track of its inventory? Walmart keeps track of its inventory using a
tool called Telzon. This tool allows you to scan the item’s barcode, you can then get its sale price
and how many of the items are left. Why is this important? This is important becuase it helps
Walmart get the right amount of the item or the products in the store which are placed on the
shelves once again.

Which effects has this inventory system had on producers? This inventory system tracks
everything about the item through the Telzon, an order is automatically generated through this
tool, the warehouse fills that order and the product can be found on the shelves once again the
next day. This inventory system also helps Walmart tell producers what to manufacture and what
not to.

Which 2 powerful forces converged in the 90s that Walmart took advantage of? The rise of
information technology and the explosion of the global economy. How did they take advantage
of them? Walmart has taken advantage of information technology by using a tool that tracks
inventory. This tool sees the sales of any product, Walmart then decides if they should order
more or less of the item. Walmart also took advantage of the expansion of the global economy by
conducting meetings with their manufacturers. If a manufacturer comes to them and tries to
negotiate, Walmart does not allow it since they know their prices etc. Walmart does everything
their way and does not give manufactures what they want. How has this changed the retailing
business? Walmart pays attention to everything they have from people to products. They pay
attention to what people are buying, how many items are sold and order more. These 2 features
keep people attracted and always coming to Walmart for their groceries.

Which factors most contributed to the decline of Rubbermaid from 1994 to 2004? The main
factor that contributed to the decline of Rubbermaid would be the price increase from its supplier.
Rubbermaid’s supplier increased the price of renin, which is a need for the creation of plastic
products. This increase made Rubbermaid tell other retailers they will have to increase the price
of Rubbermaid’s products so that Rubbermaid can afford to buy renin. Walmart said they would
not change the price of Rubbermaid’s products that were sold in their store and make their
customers pay more. Walmart would not accept anything that was not their way. Walmart
dropped many of Rubbermaid’s products and the company slowly started to suffer. Since
Rubbermaid could not afford to keep their whole building and machines, they sold it to other
countries such as China.

What is an opening price point? Opening price points are the rock bottom prices that Walmart
shows to people on special displays. How does it influence sales? This opening price point
influences sales by looking at the item and thinking all items may be the lowest price around
here. This opening price point is the reason Walmart gets more money.

How exactly has Walmart kept its prices so low? Walmart has kept its prices so low by importing
items from countries that have low wages. These items that have been imported from countries
