Part 2 – Assessment of nutrient intake using Canadas Food guide
2. (2 marks) Does this day reflect your typical eating habits? Explain.
Yes, this does reflect my typical eating habits. On most day I try to pack a variety of fruits and vegetable
as my snacks and have one additional snack item that is not fruit/vegetable. On days that I don’t bring a
sandwich as lunch, my alternative is usually Greek yogurt topped with some berries and granola. As for
dinner, my typical meal would contain a variety of Chinese dishes that are cooked with both meat and
vegetable and eaten with half a cup of white rice.
3. (4 marks) Look at your food diary. List the following items from your entries:
o foods that are highly processed
▪ Swiss cheese
▪ Turkey slices
▪ Salami
▪ Pickled banana peppers
o foods that contain a significant amount of saturated fat
▪ 2% milk
▪ Lean pork in stir-fry
▪ Skinless chicken in stir-fry
▪ Bbq pork
o foods that contain added and free sugars (For more information about foods containing free and
added sugars, refer to Canada’s Dietary Guideline about foods and beverages that undermine
healthy eating.)
