B3.1.7 Adaptaciones para el intercambio gaseoso en las hojas
La hoja, como el principal órgano fotosintetizador de las plantas, desempeña un papel crucial en el
intercambio gaseoso y la conservación del agua.
1. Cutícula Cerosa: La superficie exterior de la hoja está cubierta por una capa de cera llamada cutícula
cerosa. Esta capa es impermeable al agua y ayuda a reducir la pérdida de agua por transpiración.
2. Estomas: pequeños poros presentes en la epidermis de las hojas. Permiten el paso del CO2 para la
fotosíntesis y la liberación de O2. Durante la noche, los estomas suelen cerrarse para evitar la
pérdida de agua y mantener la eficiencia fotosintética.
3. Regulación de los estomas: controlan la apertura y cierre de los estomas. Si una planta está bajo
estrés hídrico o corre el riesgo de deshidratación, las células guardias cierran los estomas para
conservar agua.
