as for PT/MRI. Variations: Boston bivalve - step-cut rather than straight line.

-Bohler splint - -for spiral phalangeal fractures of the fingers; a device
designed to maintain proper position and continuous traction
-cast boot - -any type of commercially available strap-on boot
-cylinder cast - -cast from proximal thigh to just above the ankle; for injures
of the knee
-Delbert cast - -a short-leg cast that is trimmed away from the anterior and
posterior portions of the ankle and from the heel. This allows dorsiflexion and
plantar flexion while maintaining stability.
-frog splint - -aluminum foram splint for finger injuries
-gauntlet cast - -a short cast ex ending from above or proximal to the wrist
to some point in the palm. Usually has an outrigger to control one or more
digits. Used for metacarpal and phalangeal fractures or dislocations.
-Gibney bandage - -strips of adhesive tape applied in alterante directions
about the ankle; for ligamentous and other injuries
, -gutter splint - -semicircular or U-shaped splint fashioned around the injured
part, usually in metacarpal and phalangeal fractures of the ulnar side of the
hand.
-hairpin splint - -spring-assisted splint to help gain extension in a finger
injury affecting the joint
-hip spica - -cast incorporating the lower torso and extending to one or both
lower limbs. Variations: single hip spica, 1 1/2 hip spica, double-hip spica,
Batchelor plaster; Petrie spica cast (broom-stick)
-Kenny-Howard splint - -"(AIC harness) - for AC separations, a sling that
supports wrist and elbow with a counterforce strap to push the clavivle down
and a chest strap to hold the device in place "
-long-arm cast (LAC) - -"extends from the palm and wrist to the axilla,
preventing movement at the elbow; for treatment of fractures of the
forearm, elbow, and humerus
-long-leg cast (LLC) - -"non-weight-bearing cast extending from the upper
thigh to the toes; for fractures of the tibia and fibula or ligamentous injuries
of the knee. Variation: Long-leg walking cast (LLWC)
-Minerva jacket - -cast immobilization along side of head and in back of
head and neck, from chest to hip including headband; for fractures of the
neck and in certain
-Munster cast - -"an upper extremity cast that goes above the condyles to
prevent pronation and supination, but allows some flexion/extension of the
elbow. Also called a supracondylar cast. "
-plaster casting - -"Rolled crinoline bandages that are impregnated with
gypsum powder (calcium salts) that, when exposed to water, crystalizes. The
reaction then slows to a maturation process (hardening) that takes 24 hours
to dry. Calcium sulfate. Warmer water --> sets faster, gives off more heat.
Dip into water previously dipped, will set faster. "
-Bankart fracture - -"small piece of bone detaches from anterior inferior rim
of glenoid (after dislocation)
-Bankart lesion - -"seen surgically - detachment of glenoid labrum and
sometimes a bone fragment from glenoid following a glenohumeral anterior
dislocation "
-short-arm cast (SAC) - -"any number of casts extending from the elbow to
the palm or digits; commonly used for distal forearm and wrist fractures "
