mentors/sponsors - ANSWER FRC 1923 creates and sustains STEM impact in our
community, with 1 out of 16 of high school students involved in MidKnight
Inventors programs. We prepare our students for the real world, with experience
in leadership, STEM foundations, and community outreach. After graduation,
students are exposed to career opportunities and internships through our
sponsors, such as Apple, NASA, and NCWIT. Of the 64 alumni who graduated in
the last 3 years, 95% now pursue STEM majors.

opportunities and circumstances - ANSWER Coming from an affluent school
district, MidKnight Inventors are given many privileges that students in other
regions are unable to obtain. Striving to spread our resources to teams and
students in need, FRC 1923 has mentored 7 rookie teams in the last 5 years.
With 210,000 New Jersey students living below the poverty line, The MidKnight
Inventors gives back by providing STEM manuals, kits, and toys to local students
through a local organization, NJ Rise.
Describe the team's methods, with emphasis on the past 3 years, for spreading
the FIRST message in ways that are effective, scalable, sustainable, and creative.
How does your team measure results? - ANSWER To increase access to FIRST, The
MidKnight Inventors hold initiatives (RoboExpo and Innovation Fair) that connect
300+ K-12 students yearly to local FIRST teams. This year we mentored 41 FIRST
teams, spending 2,200 hours with them, a 38% increase from 2022. In order to
create opportunity for our mentee teams to display their work, we're restarting
our hosted FLL and FRC events, which have historically reached 1,000 students
and 76 teams in previous years, to increase accessibility to FIRST

Coming from a well developed area, 1923 understands that many teams don't
have the privilege of seeing a field before their first competition. To help lead
from within our community, we have begun to develop plans for a Community
Field, creating a shared build and practice area where teams can gain experience.
Communicating with sponsor realtors to find spaces and collaborating with local
veteran teams, this new initiative seeks to broaden our reach to the entire tri-
state area.
