Grade 7 Math Term One

● Probability
- Probability = Favourable cases / possible cases x 100.
- Probability equals the number of favourable outcomes
divided by the total number of outcomes.

● Fractions
- A fraction is a part of a whole. In arithmetic, the number is
expressed as a quotient, in which the numerator is divided by
the denominator. In a simple fraction, both are integers. A
complex fraction has a fraction in the numerator or
denominator. In a proper fraction, the numerator is less than
the denominator.

● Integers
- An integer (pronounced IN-tuh-jer) is a whole number (not a
fractional number) that can be positive, negative, or zero.
Examples of integers are: -5, 1, 5, 8, 97, and 3,043. Examples of
numbers that are not integers are: -1.43, 1 3/4, 3.14, .09, and 5,643.1.

● Equations and Inequalities
- When solving an inequality: • you can add the same quantity
to each side • you can subtract the same quantity from each
side • you can multiply or divide each side by the same positive
quantity If you multiply or divide each side by a negative
quantity, the inequality symbol must be reversed.

● Percentages
- To convert fractions to percentages divide the numerator
(number on the top) by the denominator (number on the
bottom) and multiply by 100 this will give you the fraction as
a percentage. For example 58 can be expressed as a percentage
by 5÷8×100=62.5 5 ÷ 8 × 100 = 62.5 %.
