Texas Structural Pest Control Services (SPCS) - Answer-TDA's pesticide program that
tests and licenses people who want to perform structural pest control as contractors or
employees. Structural refers to space in or next to a residence, business, industrial
plant, institution, park or street.

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension - Answer-This entity develops applicator training and
study materials based on federal and state regs.

SPCS Licenses - Answer-1) Commercial 2)Business 3) Technician-Apprentice 4)
Technician 5) Non-commercial

Commercial License - Answer-License for persons who provide structural pest control
services for hire.

Business License - Answer-Licenses required of commercial pest control businesses for
each of their locations, including branch offices. These licensees also must have their
own licensed commercial applicator who does not work for any other pest control
business.

Apprentice License - Answer-Licenses for commercial and non-commercial temporary
workers and technicians in training who assist certified applicators. These persons must
work under the direct supervision of certified applicator. It is valid for 12 months.

Technician License - Answer-Licenses for individuals who complete their apprenticeship
and want to continue working in pest control. They still must be supervised directly by a
commercial or noncommercial applicator. They also must be licensed for every pest
control business they work at.

Non-commercial License - Answer-Licenses for persons who as an employee are
responsible for providing pest control services to a governmental entity, apt bldgs,
daycare centers, hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, motels, lodges, warehouses, food
processing businesses, schools or education institutions, as well as other
noncommercial entities.

Agricultural Licenses - Answer-Applicators employed in the production of agricultural
commodities receive one of 3 types of license- commercial, noncommercial, private.

, Agricultural Commercial License - Answer-A license required to use or supervise the
use of restricted-use or state-limited-use pesticides and regulated herbicides on the
land of another person for hire or compensation.

Agricultural Noncommercial License - Answer-A license for applicators employed by
government agencies who use or supervise the use of restricted-use or state-limited-
use pesticides and regulated herbicides. This also applies to someone who uses
pesticides on his or her employer's property but does not qualify as a private applicator.

Agricultural Private License - Answer-This license is required for a person who uses or
supervises the use of restricted-use or state-limited-use pesticides and regulated
herbicides to produce ag commodities. E.g. farmers, ranchers, viticulturalists, plant
propagators, Christmas tree growers, aquaculturists, floriculturists, orchardists,
nurserymen, sod growers, similar occupations

Agricultural commodity - Answer-Any plant or plant part and any animal or animal
product produced for sale, feed, food, or other use by humans or animals.
