Estructura social
● Estructura social: Sistema de relaciones sociales entre diferentes partes de la sociedad que describe
condiciones empíricas observables. Características:
- Totalidad.
- Interdependencia/ interrelación.
- Permanencia.
- Constricción.
- Desigualdad.
- Realidad.
Las sociedades y sus interrelaciones dependen de variables estructurales:
- La distribución de la población por sexo y edad.
- Las actividades económicas.
- El nivel educativo.
- Recursos naturales.
- Las instituciones sociales vigentes.
- La distribución social del poder.
Estas cuestiones determinan diferentes posiciones de los individuos dentro de la sociedad y sus relaciones más
permanentes, es decir, su estructura social.
Organización social
Las sociedades modernas tienen complejas formas de organización social.
● Organización social: Conjunto de fórmulas por las que los humanos se adaptan a las condiciones
ambientales dentro de un marco tecnológico.
Necesaria referencia al conjunto de las colectividades, los grupos y las organizaciones e instituciones que
constituyen las sociedades y sus interrelaciones.

Grupos sociales
● Grupo social: conjunto de personas, con una identidad reconocida por el resto, que mantienen algún
tipo de vínculo o relación entre sí.

- Interacción.
- Conciencia de grupo.
- Objetivos, valores y actitudes compartidas.
- Estabilidad y duración relativa.
- Identificación social.
Diferencia con categoría y reunión.
La interacción social: estatus
● El estatus es la posición social que ocupa el individuo y que los demás reconocen.
Lleva asociado unas responsabilidades, privilegios y expectativas.
El estatus de una persona nos dice cómo va a actuar esa persona en un determinado contexto social.
Confiere identidad social.

- Importancia del empleo como fuente de estatus en nuestra sociedad
La interacción social: el rol
Es el conjunto de actividades y tareas propias de cada estatus. Hace referencia a las expectativas sobre la
conducta que cabe esperar de una persona según su estatus. Una persona tiene un estatus y desempeña un
rol.
● El rol es una manifestación dinámica y observable del estatus.
- Conjunto de roles.
- Conflicto entre roles y conflicto intra rol.
- Abandono de rol (Helen Ebaugh).
