Wordt constant gehouden door autoregulatiesysteem
Symptomen van intracraniële overdruk
• Hoofdpijn
• Nausea
• Braken
• Bewustzijnsvermindering
• (unilaterale) mydriasis met verminderde of afwezige pupilreflex
• Onderdrukking van het AH-stelsel
Wordt klinisch vastgesteld door fundoscopie (papiloedeem)
Wnr de druk zich voortplant naar hersenstam = inklemming ->
bewustzijnsvermindering -> overlijden
Een belangrijk klinisch teken van dreigende inklemming = (unilaterale) mydriasis
met verminderde of afwezige pupillichtreflex
Door onderdrukking van ademhalingscentrum -> ademhalingsstilstand
