Als begindatum kiezen we de Big Bang, omdat dat is waar echt alles begon met het maken van leven. Bij de geschiedenis die de meeste op
school krijgen, beginnen we de geschiedenis bij het ontstaan van het schrift. Er is dus als het ware zelf gekozen door de mens waar de
geschiedenis is begonnen, maar het moet niet altijd op de praktische manier.

Sommige vragen kunnen in Big History kunnen alleen beantwoord worden als je uitzoomt. Als je de hele Amerikaanse geschiedenis wilt
uitleggen leg je dit in een kortere tijdspanne uit dan bij het ontstaan van het universum, want anders ben je te lang bezig met het vertellen. Het
geeft je perspectief van hoe groot alles eigenlijk is.

Het universum is 13,8 miljard jaar oud.
* How do we know that the Big Bang is the beginning?
Voordat de Big Bang er was, was er geen tijd en ruimte, omdat de Big Bang dit heeft gemaakt. Daarom bestond het niet daarvoor, dus was er

How do we decide what to believe?
Een claim: om te zeggen dat iets waar is, bijvoorbeeld als je vertelt dat je rekenmachine verloren is gegaan. Maar misschien ben je het gewoon
vergeten mee te nemen naar school, het is nu aan de docent of de claim die je beweert waar is.
- Wetenschappers gebruiken beweringen om hun eigen puzzels te beantwoorden en om suggesties te begrijpen over hoe de wereld

3. Logica: Een systematische redenering, waarbij je in feite je eigen geest gebruikt om te denken of iemand een juiste claim
geeft.
4. Bewijs: Verifieerbare informatie, dit kan je dus checken.
