Herhaling wateroverlastZones Nederlandse kust:
- Estuarium, vooral bij zeeland, trechtervormige, plekken waar ooit een rivier
uitgekomen is en dit is binnenin het land,
de delta is aan de buitenkant, hier hoopt sediment zich op (water uit de
rivier stroomt minder hard want het is in de benedenloop en als het botst
met zeewater komt het bijna stil te staan en zakt het sediment, dit hoopt
op en hier gaat de rivier weer omheen lopen en er komen dus een soort
eilandjes)

- Waddenkust
Dit is weer verdeeld in de zachte kust (duinen, zand) en de harde kustlijn
(waterkeringen, zeedijken)
Er zijn meerdere afschermen voor de zee:
- Primaire keringen, dijken langs de grote rivieren en bij de zee
- Andere waterkeringen, sluizen, etc. de bouwwerken
- Duinen
Bij een zacht kust veranderd dit de hele tijd door:
- Zeestromen
- Golven
- Wind
Het zand gaat naar het noorden langs de kust mee met het water
Regel: de vloedstroom is sterker dan de ebstroom, als het water op het land komt
gaat dit dus harder dan wanneer dit zich terugtrekt, dit zorgt ervoor dat er meer
zand op het land komt dan dat er wegwaait.
Duinen ontstaan door: de zee neemt zand mee en dan komen er strandwallen,
als deze dus steeds een beetje groter wordt komt deze boven de zeewater uit
(voor een deel van de dag) en dit zand wordt dan weer meegenomen naar het
strand en daar komen dus dan duinen, hierbij is de vegetatie ook belangrijk want
dit houdt het zand vast.
1953: de deltawerken en de stormvloedkeringen (grote dam, als het nodig is
wordt dit afgesloten, normaal staat het open) worden gebouwd.
