Operations management staat vooral op het gebied van ´Order Fulfilment Proces´.
Decision making tools:
- Break even analysis. Wanneer twee machines even veel kosten maken met elkaar.
- Break exen quantity. Wanneer zijn de kosten en baten gelijk met elkaar.
- Sensitivity analysis. Wat zijn de effecten van een verandering in proces
Treacy and wiersema:
- Operational excellence. Zo laag mogelijk prijs (Aldi)
- Customer Intimacy. Een optimale klantbeleving (KLM of Ferrari)
- Product Leadership. Vernieuwende producten (Philips)

Perference matrix is een tabel waarbij een manager keuze rankt op alternatieve criteria.
Hier bij is een het ´slechts´en ´tien´ het beste. Als het op een bepaald punt is, kan het
management kiezen om het product of idee te laten staan.
Beslissing theorie is een algemene benadering voor het maken van beslissingen. Dit helpt bij
het maken van beslissingen die in twijfel worden gebracht. Het proces van de beslissing:
1. Maak een lijst van de redelijke alternatieven. Maak de alternatieven niet te groot.
2. Maak een lijst van de evenementen dat invloed heeft op de keuze die gemaakt moet
worden.
3. Maak een Payroll (Een tabel dat de aantal alternatieven laat zien van elk mogelijke
evenementen).
4. Schat de evenementen met verleden data, of toekomstige methodes. Maak daarbij
een indicatie.
5. Selecteer een beslissingsrol om de alternatieven te evalueren.
Tijdens dit proces zijn er drie situaties: Risico, onzeker en zeker.

Er zijn vier verschillende process decisions basiscs.
1. Process structure layout. Welke middelen zijn er nodig en wat is de layout van
proces.
2. Customer involvement. Betrokkenheid van de klanten, en klantspecifiekheid in
orders.
3. Resource flexibility. In hoeverre kunnen werknemers verschillende producten maken.
4. Capital intensity. Kapitaal of arbeidsintensief proces.
Input gaat naar proces (lay-out, resources en capital) dat wordt output. De output gaat
naar de klanten die de variëteit en hoeveelheid bepalen van de output.
Vier verschillende KOOP (Klant Order Ontkoppel Punt) plaatsen in een proces
1. Design to order (Job Shop). Het gebied van specialisten.
2. Make to order (Job Shop of Small Batch). Klantspecifieke producten
3. Assemble to order (Line of Batch). Veel variteit en weinig assemblages

4. Make to stock (Line of continuos flow) Grote aantallen producten
