1. TASK 1: POOR RAJ
1. Thabo's Training Programme
Thabo’s approach to training Raj was inadequate. When Raj started his first day, Thabo
merely gave him some sales materials and then left him alone without any guidance,
feedback, or even a clear explanation of what Raj’s role and responsibilities would be.
While the material may contain useful information, it doesn’t replace proper training and
interaction. New recruits like Raj need more than just brochures and reports—they need
hands-on guidance, direction, and support, especially on their first day in a new job.
Raj is unlikely to benefit much from this type of "training." Simply reading through sales
reports without context doesn’t give him the practical knowledge, confidence, or
engagement he needs to perform well. New employees tend to feel nervous and
uncertain on their first day, and without someone there to guide and reassure them,
they can feel lost—just like Raj did. In short, Raj was left feeling alienated, which could
dampen his motivation and confidence going forward.
