Describe a situation where you went out of your way for a customer and why did you?
When I was a hostess at Theresa's South, a reservation told us it would be dinner after
their engagement so I went out to buy flowers and a congratulations card for their
table for when they arrived. I did this to make them feel special for their occasion and
make their experience more personable
Describe a time someone gave you constructive criticism and how you used it to better
yourself?
"Last year I received a low grade on a chemistry project. When I approached my
professor about the low grade, he said to me 'You can do better. I expected more
from you'. I was taken aback at first but once I had time to absorb what was said, I
realized that he expected more from me because he had high expectations of what I
was capable of doing. It was a compliment, and a challenge, all rolled into one! I re-
did the assignment with more passion the second time around. My grade improved
significantly and I did thank that professor for holding me to a higher standard.
Tell me about a time you had to handle a situation at work
When I was a hostess, a table of 5 was a walk in and did not understand why they
could not be seated at the only open table for 5 and I had to explain to them that
even though no one was physically sitting theree at the moment, the table had already
been reserved. they gave me a hard time but I stayed calm and continued to explain
the situation and eventually guided them towards management

I would prioritize the customer and stop what I was doing to assist them because I can
always go back to. my work

I worked closely with someone who, for the most part, always carried her fair share of
the workload. During a stressful time, working on a project with a deadline, I realized
Ann's contributions to the project were almost minimal. I made the decision to wait until
after the project to speak with her. I'm glad I did because I learned she'd been going
through a very tough time in her personal life and she appreciated my willingness to
go the extra mile so that the project could be completed on time. As a result, our
ability to work well together significantly increased.
Describe a situation where you had to pay attention to detail
When I worked at Hoffman's ice cream, I would. work a cash register and be
responsible for ensuring that the cash drawer came out spot on after every shift. I'm
proud to say that it was on target 100 percent of the time."
How well do you take criticism?
Whether it be at school or at my previous jobs, whenever a professor or manager
would critque or point out an error to me, I would thank them for doing so and their
acknowledgement of my mistakes and showing me the solution made me feel more
confident in my work, now knowing their expectations
What skills did your past work experiences give you that you can apply to this job?
I learned how. to multi task, prioritize customers and be quick on the computer with
names, phone numbers and requests
