1. Autoethnography is a qualitative research method that combines autobiography andethnography. It involves the researcher using personal experiences as a primary source of
data to explore and analyze broader cultural, social, and political phenomenons. We use
autoethnography to explore personal-cultural intersections. When the researcher’s
personal experiences are deeply intertwined with cultural or social issues. Personal
experiences give life to the audience because they know that the researcher is speaking
from the heart and is conveying their thoughts and emotions on subjects that they care so
deeply about.
2. My process involves a blend of self-reflection, cultural analysis, and writing in ways
that reveal connections between the personal and societal. First I would select a
meaningful experience that has emotional or intellectual significance that can reflect
larger cultural, social, or political themes. Then I would clarify a research question stating
“How does my personal experience illuminate broader cultural or social dynamics.This
will help focus the narrative on what I am seeking to explore. Asking this question would
open up a floodgate of options because then I could focus on how my experience could
factor into how society works, how people interact with others, or how people interact
with each other in groups. Doing this will allow me to see a perspective in the lives of
others and not just my personal experience.
3. The form of autoethnography that stood out to me the most is narrative auto
ethnography because of its focus on storytelling and personal narrative as a primary mode
of inquiry. This approach resonates with me due to its ability to capture the complexities
