The Beaker Facility Record - ANSWER You define default settings that
apply to all of the labs in your organization in the Beaker facility record
(LDF 1).

The Department Record - ANSWER Before you create a laboratory
record, you must first create a department record. End users must log
into a department in the overall Epic facility structure. Appropriate
laboratories in the Beaker facility structure are then linked to their
corresponding departments. This allows the system to determine which
lab a logged in user is working in, if any
