Compare the habitus you brought in when you first started at UCSB to the
position in the field you are in now. Then, predict how your present position,
new habitus, and new capital you attained will affect your future endeavors. -
correct answer ✔Upon entering UCSB, I would say that my habitus was
premature compared to the level that it is now.
As a freshman placed in a new environment, I was barely beginning to adapt
to the to the culture and social life on campus. My cultural capital was at a low
because I came in unexposed to the various cultural backgrounds that exist
outside of my own, which made it harder to adapt and acquire a more diverse
perspective.
the habitus that I gained growing up was mainly influenced by fields such as
family, public schools, sports, friends, etc.
my family background influenced both my economic and cultural capital as my
family exposed me to life lessons, morals, and religious beliefs, habits and
manners which I then applied to my habitus to navigate me through UCSB.
upon receiving these qualities, I was also exposed to recreational sports and
clubs throughout high school which I applied to my habitus to build a
teamwork character that helped me in classes alike this very one.
the economic capital I hold while attending UCSB puts me at a lower scale
than that of a more privileged individual. however, by attending a university
and gaining a higher education, I am allowing my economic capital to rise and
influence my habitus in a positive manner. this will of course affect my future
endeavors by allowing me access to a high paying job and a higher degree,
and ultimately a higher class position. The present position I am now will help
build a higher class status for myself and help me raise my capitals. The field I
pertain to is the field of higher education as a student in college. This will
affect my future by first raising my social capital as I interact with professors
and students and utilize networks around me in order to gain access to new
resources and support.

school, arts, sophistication, etc. this then limits the person's success and
determine their behavior here at UCSB.

networks, and therefore not build social relationships which they can gain
