How are therapy plans helpful?
Therapy plans provide a way to manage recurring orders for long-term therapies
including non-oncology infusions, treatments requiring day treatments in behavioral
health departments and transplant treatments. In many of these treatments, patients
receive the same treatment for several visits with minimal edits. Using the Therapy
Plans allows physicians to manage these treatment orders for the entire duration of the
patient care. They are also able to sign orders for the entire therapy at the beginning of
treatment.
What is Co-signing?
When an order is cosigned the cosigner is notified about an order signed by someone
else (cosigning does not mean that a person needs a second signature to sign an order).
Cosigning security makes sense for job roles such as RNs who sign procedures and
medications. They, the RNs, should be allowed to sign procedures and medications,
AND the provider working with each nurse should be informed about these signed
orders.
How do you choose a cosigner?
User has to have "Sign with cosign security
, Choose a cosigner by clicking the PROVIDERS button and then sign the order.
At this stage, the cosigner will have the option to sign or decline when he gets an 'In
Basket' notification message.
If a Co-signer rejects an order, where does the deficiency go?
The deficiency goes to a pool to be reassigned to the proper provider or administratively
closed.
Two Signature Security
Requires two users to review and sign an order before it is released to its destination.
This provides the highest degree of certainty that high-risk or costly orders are carefully
reviewed and approved before being released.
After the ordering clinician has signed the order, the secondary signer is notified
through an "in basket" message that a second signature is required for an order.
The secondary signer signs the order in Order Review.
