Sustainability has varying definitions, but the most common way it’s defined is in terms

of the triple bottom line: people, planet, and profit (EPA, n.d.). In these terms, the organization

considers its social responsibility, regarding both employees and the general public, its

environmental sustainability and how it impacts the planet, and its economic sustainability.

Sustainability is an important focus for all organizations, especially ones like TransGlobal

Airlines, that operate industries that may have increased environmental impacts. This report will

identify a key strategic goal that the organization can implement to enhance its sustainability

practices, along with a KPI and target measure for this goal, within the next ten years.

Additionally, this report will provide two performance improvement strategies with evidence as

to why these strategies will help TransGlobal achieve this goal within the given timeframe.

Strategic Goal

With respect to sustainability, the goal for Transglobal is to reduce its carbon footprint

significantly and within the next ten years, the organization is expected to improve its fuel

efficiency and reduce carbon emissions by at least 50%. This goal can be achieved through

operational efficiencies, leveraging emerging technologies, increased fuel efficiency, and

sustainable aviation fuels. Achieving this goal will catapult TransGlobal to achieving the larger

SES goal of reaching a net-zero carbon footprint by 2075.

Key Performance Indicator and Target Measures

The KPI that is most important for this goal will be the reduction in carbon emissions

(%). This KPI directly responds to the goal mentioned and measures is defined by carbon

emission reduction within a certain period. To monitor this goal, we will monitor reductions on

an annual basis and then look at the total carbon emission reduction over the 10-year time frame.
