Shuttlecock - Answer-A shuttle must weigh between 4.74 to 5.50 grams and have 16
feathers fixed in a cork base. In synthetic shuttles the feathers are replaced with a
manufactured "skirt", but they must still meet the specifications of the feather shuttle.

Shuttle Speed test - Answer-A player will strike the shuttle with a full underhand stroke
from a spot directly above one back boundary line in a direction parallel to the sideline
and at an upward angle. It must land not less than 1' and not more than 2'6'' short of the
opposite back boundary line.

Racket - Answer-The badminton racket cannot exceed 27'' long 9'' wide, and the racket
head cannot exceed 11 1/2 long. Rackets today are constructed from various blends of
carbon, graphite, born, aluminum and steel and weigh less than 3.5 ounces. Although
very light, they can be strung much tighter than wooden rackets.

Net - Answer-The net is stretched so that it is 5'1'' at the net poles and 5' in the center of
the court.

Lines - Answer-Court lines are 1 1/2 wide and are part of the playing court.

Underhand Strokes - Answer-Those in which the contact point and the head of the
racket are below the level of the hand
