First, a poem must be magical,
Then musical as a seagull.
It must be a brightness moving
And hold secret a bird’s flowering
It must be slender as a bell,
And it must hold fire as well.
It must have the wisdom of bows
And it must kneel like a rose.
It must be able to hear
The luminance of dove and deer.
It must be able to hide
What it seeks, like a bride.
And over all I would like to hover
God, smiling from the poem’s cover.

The Poem 10 is written by the famous poet Jose Garcia Villa. Poem 10: First
A Poem Must Be Magical is a unique meaning of what a poem should be.

1. Speaker- the person who is addressing the reader.
 In J.G Villa’s poem , the speaker is the poet himself addressing the readers
directly.
 Based in the 13th line of the poem which is “And over all, I would like to
hover”, by using ‘I’ it suggest that the poet is referring to himself as the
speaker of the poem.



2. Form- the structure of the poem.
 The poem is a lyric poetry specifically a sonnet.
 It is a structured poetry not in free verse because it denotes pattern.


3. Theme - the main idea that the poet is trying to convey,
 We can say that the theme of poem 10 is basically an instructional poem on
how a poem should be.
