Abstract
Bullying can lead to harmful consequences for children, impacting their emotional well-being
and overall development. This report investigates how primary schools in Groningen can
minimize bullying behavior among eight to twelve-year-old. The research focuses on key
factors, including parental involvement, level of self-control, and environmental influences.
Two interventions, KiVa and PRIMA, are analyzed whether these factors are used or not. The
conclusion of this report is that both interventions acknowledge environmental factors and the
importance of parental involvement as crucial. PRIMA stands out by placing a greater
emphasis on fostering positive parenting skills to prevent bullying. However, neither
intervention explicitly addresses the relationship between self-control and bullying.
Therefore, it is recommended to adopt a comprehensive approach, combining elements from
both KiVa and PRIMA, while placing additional focus on enhancing self-control.
