In this assignment I am going to explain the role of advertising agencies in the development of a
successful promotional campaign.

Advertising agency is a type of business specialized in creating, planning and managing the whole
advertising process for its customers. These agencies usually have specialized employees who are
familiar with making a successful promotional campaign.

Different possibilities when hiring an advertising agency are; engaging with target audience,
advertisement designs, producing advertisement and media buying.

Engaging with target audience
Advertisement agencies could be hired to engage with their clients target audience. Some of the tasks
they’re hired to do could be; conducting research, questionnaires, focus groups, field marketing or in-
store product demonstration. A business could hire an agency to do research for their product or
service. The agency could make use of a questionnaire which they can give out to the clients target
audience and the result and info gained from the questionnaire can be analyzed to help the clients
business grow.

Advertisement design
The hired agency will combine graphic design, copywriting and typography to design an advertisement
for its client. In order to do this the agency needs to interpret and build on the brand values and make
use of the business`s branding.

Advertising production
The production team of the advertising agency will work with the company that hired them to decide
which type of advertisement is suitable for them. This can either be a; TV as, radio, or print based. Once
a script is approved by the client the production of the advertisement can start. Approval is usually
asked to avoid any rerecording’s which will cost extra money.

Media planning
The advertising agencies have full knowledge on what media suites the client the best in a way of
reaching the maximum people within the target market in a cost effective manner. They decide which
method will suit the client the best this can either be on radio, TV or in magazines or newspapers.
