Functions of Behavior - Answers Escape/Avoidance
Attention
Tangible/Access
Self-Stim/Automatic
Continuous Recording - Answers Data that can be taken throughout a session
Ex: Duration, frequency/count, rate, percentage, latency, ABC Data collection
Duration - Answers The length of time that an individual engages in a given behavior.
Ex: How long a client cries
Frequency/Count - Answers The number of times a behavior occurs
Ex: The number of times a client hits
Percentage - Answers Ratio of occurrence over total
Ex: 6 of 8 trials or 75%
Latency - Answers The length of time between the onset of a stimulus and the onset of a behavior.
Ex: The length of time between delivering the SD and the clients response
Rate - Answers The number of times something occurs within a specified time
Ex: The number of times a client vocally protests within an hour
ABC Data Collection - Answers Antecedent, Behavior, Consequence
, Ex: Antecedent: BT gives instruction "Roll Car"
Behavior: Client picks up car and rolls it on table
Consequence: BT says "Great job!" And gives client toy to play
Discontinuous Recording - Answers Data taken during a period of time
Ex: Momentary time sample, whole interval recording, partial interval recording
Momentary Time Sample - Answers A time sampling procedure where an observation period is broken
into intervals and data is collected on whether the client is engaging in the behavior at the MOMENT
EACH INTERVAL ENDS.
Ex: Play Observations
Whole Interval Recording - Answers A time sampling procedure where an observation period is broken
into intervals and data is collected on whether the client is engaging in the behavior THROUGHOUT THE
ENTIRE interval.
Partial Interval Recordings - Answers A time sampling procedure where an observation period is broken
into intervals and data is collected on whether the client is engaging in the behavior at ANY TIME
DURING THE INTERVAL.
Ex: SEPIT data collection
Extinction - Answers Withholding a reinforcer for a previously reinforced behavior.
Ex: Providing no attention when a client screams for candy
Extinction Burst - Answers An immediate increase in the frequency, intensity, and variability of the
behavior immediately following the withholding of a reinforcer.
Ex: A client screamed for candy and when no attention is given, they scream louder and for a longer
period of time
Conditioned Reinforcer - Answers A learned reinforcer
