MTOS Right Ans - Major Trauma Outcome Study: In 1982, the American
College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma began the ongoing Major Trauma
Outcome Study (MTOS), a retrospective, multi-centre study of trauma
epidemiology and outcomes.
MTOS uses what: Right Ans - MTOS uses Trauma Score and Injury Severity
Score Analysis (TRISS) methodology to estimate the probability of survival, or
P(s), for a given trauma patient.
Formula for P(s) Right Ans - P(s) is derived according to the formula: P(s)
= 1/(1 + e-b)
TRISS Right Ans - determines the probability of survival (PS) of a patient
from the ISS and RTS.
The revised trauma score is made up of: Right Ans - of a combination of
results from three categories; Glasgow Coma Scale, Systolic blood pressure,
and respiratory rate.Thescoreranges from 0-12.
Z Sscore Right Ans - is the ratio: (A -E)/S, where A = actual number of
survivors, E = expected number of survivors, and S = scale factor that accounts
for statistical variation.
M-statistic Right Ans - is an injury severity match allowing comparison of
the range of injury severity in the sample population with that of the main
database (i.e. the baseline group).
W-statistic Right Ans - calculates the actual numbers of survivors greater
(or fewer) than predicted by MTOS, per 100 trauma patients treated.
GCS Eye Responses Right Ans - 1-no eye opening
2-eye opening to pain
3-eye opening to verbal command
4-eyes opening spontaneously
GCS Verbal Responses Right Ans - 1-no verbal response
2-Incomprehensible sounds
