9. Bones of Neonatal Skull: Anterior and Posterior Frontanel
10. During Fetal Period: head size is greater than chest circumference at birth and
reaches 90% of final size at 6 years old.
11. Pregnant Females: Blood volume increases by 40% in pregnant women. At
risk for stroke, edema, hypertension.
The ONLY normal time for the thyroid to be enlarged is in pregnancy.
12. Geriatric: Thyroid gland function decreases
13. Headache: Occipital, frontal, or band-like tightness.
Aggravating factors:
Anxiety, stress
Medications (oral contraceptives, bronchodilators, nitrates) Substances
(alcohol, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide)
14. Migraines: Last 1-3 days a month. Caused by: stress, chocolate, alcohol, cheese,
and menstruation. Symptoms: visual disturbances, nausea, vomiting. Pain is around
eyes, frontal, and temporal. Treatment: laying down.
15. Cluster: Unilateral, around the eye, temple, forehead, cheek, 1-2 times per day, ½
to 2 hours, 1-2 months, remission for months to years. Caused by: Alcohol ingestion,
Daytime napping. Symptoms: Eye reddening and tearing, eyelid drooping, rhinorrhea,
and nasal congestion. Treatment: Need to move/ pace.
