- door geslachtsgemeenschap planten man en vrouw zich geslachtelijk voort

 mannelijke zaadcellen worden zo dicht mogelijk bij de vrouwelijke eicel gebracht :
als de eicel bevrucht wordt door een zaadcel kan dat aanleiding geven tot een nieuw leven
 zaadcellen en eicellen = voortplantingscellen
 bevruchting gebeurt inwendig ( bij sommige organismen uitwendig : vb. aardbeienplant, vissen, … )
 bij de bevruchting versmelt de zaadcel met de eicel

van de zaadcellen onder invloed van testosteron ter hoogte van de zaadbuisjes  huidplooi = de balzak

als tijdelijke opslagplaats voor de zaadcellen

- de zaadleider is 30cm lang en leidt vanuit de bijbal de zaadcellen naar de prostaatklier

de zaadcellen

- het zaadvocht bevat voedingsstoffen voor de zaadcellen en is licht alkalisch / basisch

 is nodig om het zure milieu van de vagina te neutraliseren
 het zaadvocht verhoogt de overlevingskans van de zaadcellen
 bevat stoffen die delen van het vrouwelijke voortplantingsstelsel doen samentrekken zodat de kansen op een
bevruchting verhogen

- sperma  zaadcellen  sperma = zaadcellen + zaadvocht van de zaadblaasjes + prostaatvocht van de prostaat
