FINAL EXAM REVIEW

Multiple choice questions - the main purpose of these questions is to ensure the
understanding of specific points in the passage as well as main points.

What is the task here? - you'll have to choose the correct answer A, B, C or D that best
answers the question or completes the sentence according to information in the text.

How to answer? - Here we'll demonstrate some basic skills to answer the multiple
choice questions.

Different types of questions - you may be asked to:

1- choose one answer. Example: choose the correct answer A, B, C or D
2- choose two answers. Example: choose TWO letters A-E
3- choose three answers. Example: which THREE opinions are mentioned by the
writer?

Skill 1: read the instructions - you've got to determine what type of question you have to
answer and whether you have to select one answer or more.

Skill 2: read the questions carefully - 1- Determine whether you're asked to complete a
sentence OR answer a question.

2- Look at the language used in the question - it'll help you find the kind of information
you are looking for in the passage.

Examples:
a- words like "mainly, the main, usually, the majority, the most" are used to identify the
importance and even the most important thing.

b- words like "leads to, ensure that, means that, causes" are used to choose the correct
effect, outcome or consequence.

c- "the writer refers to, shows that, illustrates, an example of" are used to choose the
