I recently obtained a new client who expects to be released back into society soon and
will need a treatment plan to assist her with her reentry process. After receiving her file and
being able to go over the details of her bio-psychosocial assessment, containing most of the
information that will be needed to try to accommodate the client with the most beneficial
treatment plan to result in the most optimal outcome achievable for all.
Client: Casey Hamburger is a 32-year-old white non-Hispanic female. She has been incarcerated
at the Airy Institute Correctional Facility in Florida. Client is currently serving an 18-month
sentence for possession of an illegal substance. Has already served 15 months and reentry is
approaching along with the need to decide upon how things will be handled from now until
release and post-release from the correctional facility.
Everyone Require Basic Needs: Some Require More, While Some Require Less
Housing: Client said she was homeless prior to incarceration and would stay with whoever she
could “couch surfing” as she referred to it. Before release, a housing plan should be put into
place. Starting with contacting local community services to see if there are any halfway houses
or shelters available to her and trying to reserve a space. Due to the substance abuse problems,
finding an inpatient facility would also be very beneficial before reentry into the community
itself.
Income: Client has said that she has only worked fast food and restaurant jobs since she was 16
so her skills are limited. See if any types of skill training are available while still incarcerated.
Never finished high or GED so obtaining her GED while incarcerated would benefit client in
many more selections of job opportunities. Upon release, set client up with a staffing agency to
