Functie nier:

 Verwijderen van afvalstoffen
o Van bloed voorzien via nierslagader (zijtak aorta)
o Nieren zuiveren het bloed
o Nierader transporteert gezuiverd bloed naar uitmonding holle ader
o Nierslagader / nierader grotere doorsnede (veel bloed transport)
 Regelen van vochtbalans
o Urine in de nieren gevormd
o Urineleiders -> blaas
o Spieren blaas trekken samen als je moet plassen
 Regeling zuurtegraad, zoutconcentratie en aantal eiwitten in bloed
 Productie hormonen (door bijnieren)
o EPO: aanmaak rode boedcellen
