Colostoma → uitgang op de dikke darm
Ileostoma → uitgang op de dunne darm
Indicaties stoma:
- Tumoren
- Chronische darmontstekingen (ziekte van Crohn, colitis ulcerosa)
- Aangeboren afwijkingen
- Darmpoliepen, divertikels
- Fistels
- Neurologische aandoeningen
- Slechte darmfunctie
- Tijdelijk moeten ontzien van de plaats waar de darm geopereerd is
- Incontinentie
- Ileus (afsluiting van de darm)
- Verwondingen aan de darm
Enkelloops: de stoma heeft één opening
- Laatste stuk van de endeldarm is verwijderd
- Laatste stuk van de endeldarm is dicht gehecht
Dubbelloops: er zijn twee openingen naast elkaar
