, Abstract
Feedback as a communication medium is essential for employees’ well-being in a company.
Decade-long research focused on how feedback as a general concept can improve job satis-
faction and thereby job performance. Also, specific aspects of feedback were investigated, yet
one aspect – feedback timing – only experienced scarce research. To explore this factor in
more depth, this study investigated the antecedents of feedback timing and its effect on job
satisfaction. Data were collected through a case study that included interviews at a German
HR consultancy firm. Results present numerous emergent feedback timing anteced- ents, yet
the linkage between feedback timing and job satisfaction could not fully be ex- plained.
Further research needs to investigate this relationship further and additionally, validate the
emergent antecedents of feedback timing.
