Psychological factors
Introduction
Psychological factors are very important when you are leading/delivering physical education
or when coaching, you are required to have different types of psychological factors to
successfully lead a session because they are there so that they can help you deliver the
session, not only that they are there to help but they are there as well so that they can make
the sessions and coaching easier because you require them to be a successful coach.
Psychological factors can be worked on and improved but you only some cannot
everything’s changed for example personality can’t be changed because it is in your genes
and you can prevent stress management by getting yourself more organised so that you
don’t after the rush and get things done on the same day!
Self-concept:
Self-concept is a general term used on how they or for example refer yourself to how
you/someone see yourself/themselves. Which means how someone thinks and looks at
themselves. For example, part of self-concept would be valued because every person has
different values that are important to them, for example, something that is very important
to them so for example for me this work that I do is very important it has value to me and
not to other’s because once I complete this work it will get marked and thanks to this I will
be closer to my goal. Unlike other people may find this work not so valuable for example
they may not be bothered they only want to pass this assignment and they want to move on
because they are not bothered. This would be his values and that what he may want to do
which this could be his ambitions. Everyone is different and everyone has their perceptions
which include behaviour, abilities and unique characteristics. Also, there are two parts of
self-concept which include for example; a personal identity which is how your behaviour
when no one is around you also such as personal traits and characteristics that you get form
your family which make you unique and social identity which how we behave when we are
around others (different environments) also this links and includes the groups that we are in
or belong such as communities, religion and even college for example in all of this different
environments we behaviour ourselves differently because we feel different which affects
our behaviour around others. Which this could mean when you are leading a sports session
you are in an environment that you must be confident and be a leader so that you could
deliver the session.
Another thing that is important in leading a sports session in self-concept would be to have
a goal, for example, this could be delivering a sports session you want to make sure that
they get physical activity and have fun when participating and getting exercise. This is
important because as a coach you will be more engaged and want to deliver the session
which other people are more likely to like it and if not for example, if you were not to have a
goal for delivering a session then, as a PE teacher you would not be an effective coach
because you can’t deliver a session that is physical and fun. Which if this was to happen no
one would like to do it again because people would get bored and they would not want to
do it again because they may not like it after the session because it was unsuccessful. It is
important to have self-concept so that you would have a good goal that you want to achieve
and deliver to others so that when you are putting someone threw a session they will like it
