During this custodial care assignment 2 I will be-
Firstly I will be explaining the process of receiving and discharging individuals and
their property into and from the custodial environment. Secondly I will be assessing
the importance of building positive relationships for offenders. Next I will be
Identifying how offenders are prepared for rehabilitation and release. I will then be
analysing how developing positive relationships and addressing offending behaviour
benefits the individual and society. Lastly I will be appraising the impact of offending
behaviour programmes.

P4: Explain the process of receiving and discharging individuals and their property
into and from the custodial environment-

There are many phases when prisons are receiving prisoners two basic overviews is
where the person will get an introduction to the prison life and generally goes
through the rules and what the routine is on a daily basis. This is essential for
anyone new entering prison life for the first time or was in the past and needs their
memory to be refreshed. After all of the checks the person will be shown exactly
where they will be staying and an introduction to that specific prison block.

Firstly I am going to be discussing in this report prisoners that are being received into
prisons. For a person to be accepted into custody have to have warrant that is given
by the court that they attended or in some cases missed the date this is called a
committal warrant a member of the prison staff will have to check this information
before the person can be escorted off the prison bus if the information is incorrect or
has some missing then legally the prison is not able to take the person into custody.
In cases the person will say his name is different to the one on the warrant or some
of the information is incorrect this can cause delays because the staff at the prison
have to take any claims seriously. The next step is the person will be taken to the
interview room where they will be interviewed by a member of the prison staff, the
form they will attempt to fill in is called a `personal summary sheet` Some people
may find the form pointless but I think it's vital especially in situations of emergency
or the prisoner needing support as the form records the prisoners religion and
religions they don't get on with, the last thing prisons need is racism and violence
happening just because staff couldn't be bothered finding out key information.

Secondly within 24 hours of arriving at the prison prisoners will need to have their
fingerprint recorded and photo of the person and any items they have on them
tattoos and any scars are key to identifying prisoners and in case they are offencive
to other groups. Prisoners will then go through the searching phase where they will
need to be strip searched by a member of the same sex and go through a metal
detector to make sure they are not hiding anything. Just to note their is also a BOSS
scanner that will scan and detect small metal objects which can range from mobile
phones to weapons concealed by individuals, this is not always used as not every
