Question 1: At what age would you consider a person to be an adult? Explain your reasoning.
Are there specific milestones that need to be accomplished?

I think that a person would be considered an adult around the age of 18-21. It really depends on
the person. Most people nowadays consider themselves an adult when they turn 18. They
would typically have finished high school and gone to college/work. I think a person would be
viewed as an actual, full-on adult in their early 20s when they're capable of looking after
themselves. I also think that it depends on where you live. In other countries, some people are
forced to grow up faster. Most people consider the teenage years in these countries as an adult.

Question 2: How important do you think the accomplishment of intimacy vs. isolation is? Can a
person lead a happy life without finding a significant other? Explain using examples from your
life supported by information from the reading.

In my opinion, the accomplishment of intimacy vs. isolation isn’t that important. Erikson thought
that deep relationships and connections were extremely important. While that may be true in
most relationships, it is not the only way that someone can be happy. Sometimes, someone can
be just as happy when they’re by themselves. This could be the result of something negative
they went through in their life. One of my friends was married for about 3 years and the
marriage did not end very well. He’s grown and learned a lot since then and is even happier by
himself.
