Chapter 1 - 3 part 1
Monday and Tuesday November 14th and 15th 2022. Chapter 1 - 3 part 1.

I notice that this book is hard to read and understand. It is an option that something bad
happens to Mala. Maybe she gets sick or maybe she will find another man and betray the
father of Artie. There are no comparisons between my life and the first three chapters of the
book. The part that really struck me was the part where Vladek searched help from one of
his uncle's friends. I wondered how it could be possible that the friend of his uncle could
easily take him back to his home. I also was struck by the fact that the obsessed ex-girlfriend
from Vladek sent an evil letter to his engaged girlfriend. She wanted to be the girlfriend from
Vladek, but he was with her now, so she tried to break up their relationship.
I think Vladek really tried his best to make his life as good as possible, but the people around
him destroyed that.

I do not think Vladek deserves to be in a concentration camp, because he is so sweet and
tries his best to help anyone. I don't know what the character from Artie is. He asks a lot of
questions in my eyes, so I think he is a curious person.
In my opinion the storyline in the book is clear, but I noticed I missed some details that were
not really clear. I also noticed that one of the characters speaks bad English, and that
annoyed me. Overall I think the story is very interesting and clear, but it is so much that if
you want to remember every little detail, you have to write it down.

I watched the movie Anne Frank, and this book reminded me of this movie because it goes
about world war two, and she tried to escape just like Vladek.
There were some questions that popped into my head while reading this. Why are the jews
pictured as mice, the Germans as cats, and the Polish people as pigs? I also wondered
about how Vladek was going to choose between Anja and Mala. That was what puzzled me
in the first three chapters.

What I thought about the book while reading was that I find it interesting how the book is
written from the perspective of Artie, and that you can see how the story was made and
where it is based on.

Chapter 4 - 6 part 1
Friday and Sunday November 18th and 20th 2022. Chapter 4 - 6 part 1.

I now understand the storyline from the beginning of the book, and I noticed I find this story
really interesting to read. The story gets a lot clearer, and I noticed a lot more little details. I
think when Vladek and Anja escaped, they were seen by a German soldier, but because the
cousin sat behind this desk and worked for the Germans, they let Vladek and Anja go.
The last page from chapter 5 really gave me an understanding feeling. I can feel the
sadness from Vladek missing Anja, because I miss my grand- mother and father like that.
That event in the story gave me a comparison with my personal life. What really struck me
was the part that Vladek needed to make extra money for his family, because otherwise they
