Body Tissues
> epithelial tissue
• simple, stratified, pseudostratefied, glandular
• covers body's outer surface, lines internal closed cavities
• systems that interact with exterior (ie. GI, GU, respiratory)
• don't have own blood supply, anchor with basement membrane
>
- connective tissue
• loose (areolar), adipose, reticular, dense, cartilage, bone, blood
• connects, binds, supports
>
- muscle tissue
• thick filament - myosin
• thin filament - actin
• skeletal - voluntary movement of skeleton
• cardiac - involuntary heart contraction
• smooth - involuntary stimulated by ANS
- nervous tissue
• throughout body for communication
• sending and recieving messages to carryout funcitions in body
>
- extracellular matrix
• space betwen cells
• protein and polysaccharies vary based on tissue type
• supportive environment, binds cells to work together
