Serial communication (RS232)
This is a type of serial communication transition. The good and bad about this
type of serial communication protocol .It’s supported by may devices, because
of it’s simplicity .Another benefit is that it’s immune t noise since +/-=5 volts
or more for binary logic. Also supports long distance up to 50 feet. Once
drawback is that it supports lower speeds over log distances. It’s only suitable
for system – system communication but not chip to chip to other devices
commutation, Another aspect is that it’s unbalanced transmission .
RS 422 aka TIA/EIA-422
This serial protocol can transfer a single byte of information over a serial link
having between 3 to 22 signals and running at speeds from 100 to 20k baud.
The link length can be up to 50 ft. RS422 The advantages of RS422 are that the
information is given in high rates. The higher speeds offered by RS422 is a
beneficial feature and as a result it is being used all the more generally. This
means the link can convey more information contrasted with the other
correspondence protocols. The information transmitted is less noisy with no
issue. Another positive aspect position is that the Differential signalling can
transmit information at rates as high as 10 Mbit/s or might be sent on cables as
long as 1,500 meters
USB (v1.1, 2.0, 3.0)
First gen of USB had its own set of speed limit up to 12mbs, this initial usb type
didn’t support fast data transmission for peripherals such as mouse,
keyboards and camera which then was replaced by the 2nd gen usb and has
improved speed of date transition up to 480mb or 60mbs s. The third version
USB 3 has changed the speed up to 640mbs .
Another benefit is that it’s cheap and it has robust connector framework. It
additionally has low power utilization and it nearly fits all gadgets that have a
USB port. The inconveniences are that USB link are restricted long and has
constrained ability and generally execution. The universal serial bus does not
give the broadcasting highlight, just individual messages can be imparted
among host and fringe. The other drawback is that the data transfer isn't quick
as some different frameworks
Ethernet (CAT 5/CAT 6 speed)
, Sulayman Mahamed Unit 25 Assignment 04
Cat 5 or 6 is type of transmission cable which is based on twisted pair of
cable designed for application such as computer, telephone and video. They
both consist of white/green, green, white/ orange, blue , orange, white/brown,
brown cable strand colour colours.
The benefits of Ethernet are that it provides the most band width of 100,000
Mbps(100 Gb/s) and the greatest link length is 100 meters which is long.
Another preferred position is that it is quick, and it is additionally secure on the
grounds that the system is completely contained so thusly there would be less
impedances not at all like remote associations. The drawbacks of ethernet are
that the gadget must interface utilizing physical cabling which makes hard for
untouchables to access arrange information, Another issue with Ethernet is
that it may end up costly contrasted with a remote passageway, this is on the
grounds that the wiring for the whole structure which is a limitation for and
maintaining can a up more cost to it.
Cat 5 can delivers speeds up to: 1000mbs
Cat 6 can deliver speeds up to: 10gbs

Profinet is widely used in the PLC industry since its more flexible and supports many
applications
standard far information correspondence through modern ethernet, Profinet is
intended for gathering information from, and controlling and hardware in modern
frameworks, with a quality in conveying information under tight time imperatives.
Another aspect is that it delivers data quickly and secure. Another benefit is that it’s
fast which is good for productivity like manufacturing. Another benefit is that it fast
PLC hardware. However Profinet is a complex network specification which makes it
a difficult , The negative aspect of it is that tis made out of copper, since copper
prices are high means that the manufacturing of the this has some limitations.
Another drawback is that its difficult to implement. Another drawback is that the
devices for Profinet modules and adding the time and effort wiring which can very
costly
However profinet doesn’t require Not much hardware is required which one benefit,
another benefit is that it’s easier to use and more flexible. Also another benefit is that it’s
fast up to 12mbs which useful for controlling devices and modules across wide spread
network. One drawback is that the durability of it is poor which on limitation , Another
