Reationalization refers to the process of explaining or justifying one’s behavior, thoughts, or
feelings in a way that makes them seem logical, reasonable, or acceptable, often in situation
where the true underlying motives or causes are less flattering, uncomfortable or irrational.
It can occur both on an individual level (as a defense mechanism) and on a societal level (in
social institutions and bureaucracies).
How modern society increasingly relies on rules, efficiency and logic to organize and
structure social institutions, such as goverments, businesses and legal systems. This kind of
rationalization involves prioritizing calculability, efficiency and predictability over traditional,
emotional or moral considerations. Weber argued that as societies became more complex,
they tended to develop bureaucratic structures that emphasize rational, objective decision-
making processes. While this can lead to greather efficiency and predictability, it can also
result in the “iron cage” of bureaucracy, where human values, individuality and creativitiy are
constrained by rigid rules and procedures.

SUMMARY ARTICLE:
More women than men are unaffiliated religiously. Reversal for every older age group.
Data point both church and campus life offer examples of greater male investment paired
with female disaffections.

Even if the frictions between more traditionalist and modernist believers tend to divide men
from women, in other words, it’s still better to have those frictions working themselves out
among people who are inside churches (or synagogues and mosques) than to have men and
women flying off into competing forms of post-Christianity — leaving us polarized, not
between Baptists with differing views on women’s ordination, but between Bronze Age
Pervert and woke Wiccans, macho Norse gods and a matriarchal New Age

It discusses the emerging trend of younger men returning to religious practice, but from
different perspectives. One view suggests that this revival is linked to broader cultural shifts,
with young men drawn to religion in response to what they perceive as an overly feminized,
progressive culture. They are influenced by figures like Andraw Tate, who promote
traditional masculinity. This revival is often tied to conservative religious environments that
emphasize traditional gender roles.
