SEPARATE POST: (DOES NOT REQUIRE RESPONDING TO PEERS).
1. Regarding the Post-TANIC Self-Assessment for this
week, how does your competency level compare
to the Week 2 Self-Assessment?
2. Which two competencies do you think may benefit
you in your future role as an APN and why?
3. As discussed in the lesson this week, healthcare
providers must be competent in informatics in order
to make ethical decisions about informatics
technologies and patients' intimate healthcare data
and information. To the extent that information
technology is reshaping healthcare practices or
promises to improve patient care, healthcare
professionals must possess certain competencies
which will assist with consistency and quality. Which
two competencies did you achieve in this course?
Explain.
1. Regarding the post-TANIC self-assessment versus the pre-TANIC self-assessment in
week two, I feel that I rated myself about the same. In week two, I rated myself as an
expert at 98% of the competencies and for week seven, I feel that my ratings were
about the same. I grew up around computers and have always felt comfortable
utilizing technology for personal enjoyment and for professional endeavors. Though
while I am comfortable and confident in my ability to utilize technology, that doesn’t
mean that I should become complacent and stagnant in my knowledge. As I progress
through life and my career, I hope to constantly challenge myself by seeking new
learning opportunities when available.
2. As a future APN focusing on Psychiatric Mental Health, I believe that I will be able to
benefit from many of the competencies we’ve discussed in this class, however I
think the TIGER competencies of Information Literacy and Telehealth and Mobile
Technologies will benefit me the most. Information literacy is essential to APNs
because it the ability to access and evaluate information from electronic sources
and databases to support evidence-based practice. Evidence-based practice is
essential to APNs because it governs treatments and provides a foundation for safe
and effective healthcare. The competency of Telehealth and Mobile Technologies is
essential to my future role as a Psychiatrics Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
