The nurse should implement hygiene, positive reinforcement, a low level of stimuli, and one on one care. Hygiene, such as showering, combing her hair, brushing her teeth and dressing accordingly could all be accomplished with assistance and positive reinforcement such as a praise or her favorite candy. A low level of stimuli is needed to promote effective communication and focus. This can be accomplished by turning off the TV, speaking in a calm voice, closing the blinds to half way, encouraging frequent naps and limiting the amount of people around her. One on one care should also be implemented to help manage any possible violent outbursts and sexual acts until symptoms of manic face decreases. This one on one care would consist of monitoring her, ensuring that she’s free from harm and any factors that would trigger a possible episode. Additionally on the word document, answer these following questions: What is the nurse’s role in caring for a client who has bipolar disorder? How do these nursing actions relate to client safety? To recognize the signs and symptoms, this will then result to effective nursing interventions.
