27: WAT IS LEVEN?

§27.1 STANDPUNTEN OVER HET LEVEN
Generatio spontanea → leven is ontstaan uit dode materie.
Creationisten → mensen die geloven dat alle organismen door een schepper zijn
ontworpen en dat deze organismen onveranderlijk zijn.
Intelligent Design → stelt dat veel eigenschappen niet door toevallige
evolutionaire
mechanismen ontstaan zijn, maar dat er een ontwerper achter zit.
Vitalisme → om de dode materie levend te krijgen was er de vis vitalis.
Materialisme → leven is een materiële zaak waar geen geest voor nodig is.
Mechanisme → de mens is een machine.
Reductionisme → leven wordt verklaard door fysica en chemie.
Successie → soortensamenstelling wordt leefgemeenschap. Zorgt ervoor dat een
ecosysteem niet constant blijft.
Organicisme → gemeenschappen van planten en dieren kunnen bestudeerd
worden als organismen.
Systeemdenken → er wordt veel aandacht geschonken aan het systeem als
geheel. Alles wordt gezien als een systeem. Ook wel genoemd holistisch denken.
Emergentisme → er zijn levende en dode eigenschappen die niet uit
samenstellende componenten bepaald worden, zoals het bewustzijn.
Sferen → verschillende sferen voor onderwerpen in het leven.

§27.2 DE AARDE ALS ORGANISME
Gaia-theorie → de aarde kan in haar geheel opgevat worden als een levend
organisme.

§27.3 LEVEN ALS SYSTEEM
Zelfregulering → heeft een levend wezen ALTIJD.
Homeostase → stabiele toestand van cel, organisme of ecosysteem. Dit is alleen
te handhaven als er een input en output is. Bij grote veranderingen aan de
setpoints, stort het systeem in.
Cel → bezig met wisselwerking met omgeving.
Organisme → stoffen, afvalstoffen, pH, temperatuur, vervoering van
hormonen,
produceren bloedeiwitten.
Populatie → voortplanting, verdeling nestplaatsen en territoria.
Superorganisme → als er binnen een groep een taakverdeling
optreedt.
Ecosysteem → handhaving van homeostase door negatieve
terugkoppeling.
