Introduction
1.1.1. Define and describe the human rights violation that
you have chosen.
Human rights violations are a problem in all countries including
South Africa. Gender based violence is a serious and yet least
acknowledged problem that many people especially women face.
Gender-based violence is the intentional use of threatening or actual
physical force or power against a person, group or community. This
includes any threats or acts of violence and abuse, whether

phycological harm, maldevelopment, or deprivation. Although all
genders and ages can be victims it has been widely acknowledged
that most of the people affected by this crime are girls and women.
