The risk society (Beck, 1992):
- Society focused on risk and security
- Sense of uncertainty in contrast with reality (we maken ons meer zorgen terwijl het
nog nooit zo veilig is geweest)
- From natural hazards to human influence (vroeger zorgen over stormen etc en nu
maken we vooral zorgen over gevaren veroorzaakt door mensen; deze maken het
wellicht nog onzekerder, omdat we het gevoel hebben dat het mogelijk is deze te
controleren dus moeten we dat ook doen).

Mensen verongelukken meer bij vallen van keukentrapjes dan dat er een verkeerd stofje zat
in eieren. Maar die eieren kreeg veel meer media-aandacht. Mensen kijken niet goed naar
de statistieken.

Public sommigen vertrouwen de vaccins niet
 risk of communication: welke communicatie vertrouw je wel/niet.
