o Depends on individuals moral standards and experiences

- Suspense = anticipation of outcome: suggestion of happy or sad outcomes

- Moral disengagement cues: moral justification, dehumanization
- Ambiguous character: no clear disposition but more realistic

- Continuum of affective dispositions: from happy to no feeling to sad
- Responses to jokes can vary across time: emotional state differs

Disposition theory of drama

o And when disliked characters experience a negative outcome
