The management of human, physical and technological
resources
Managing Physical resources can help improve the performance of Tesco. For
example, Tesco needs plant and machinery to be able to effectively carry out
their work. Tesco uses machinery within their production departments and
warehouse, for example, machines to carry stock around. Tesco needs to
manage their plants and machinery, such as by making sure that the business
is using the latest models of the machinery, and doing regular checks to make
sure everything is working properly, this is to ensure that the workers are able
to perform their tasks because if the machinery is damaged in any way either
because it needs to be repaired or it is outdated, it will not work as good as it
should which will slow down the performance of the employees and the
business altogether.
Managing the equipment and ICT can also improve the performance of Tesco
in many ways. For example, Tesco needs to make sure that they use the right
type of equipment that they require; the Offices may require pens and
notepads, computers, printers, telephones etc. By having this equipment in
their offices, Tesco employees will be able to carry out their work properly
which will help with the overall performance of the business. Tesco also has an
online website, which they need to regularly update by adding new products,
changing the layout to fit with the latest trends etc. This will help improve the
customers’ impression, they will be more likely to purchase from the business
which will help increase sales and revenues for Tesco. Without regularly
updating the website, the site will end up looking outdated which will chase
away the customers and slow down performance.
Tesco also uses ICT to communicate to customers, such as answering feedback,
and to other Tesco stores in different locations. This way Tesco can provide a
good customer service, happy customers will be more likely to come back to
the business and also staying in contact with other Tesco stores will also allow
Tesco to stay up to date with everything, and share important information
which will help increase the performance. Without setting up ICT systems,
Tesco’s performance will slow down because most of the work that is carried
out by the business is done using ICT systems, including calculating data from
the customers, calculating sales etc. Without an effective ICT system, Tesco will
have to rely on other resources which will decrease the efficiency.
